Membership is compulsory for all people who want to play badminton on a regular basis (more than 3 times per calendar year).

Annual membership is from 1 February each year to 31 January the following year. This period is fixed, which means that regardless of which month  you join, your membership will always expire on 31 January.

The cost of membership is normally $40 per person per year (1 February to 31 January). From this amount, we pay $27 to Badminton NSW (NSWBA), and put the other $13 towards our own events (ie, it comes back the the members).

Sometimes however, we may reduce the membership fee if our end of year financial situation warrants it. We will let you know via our Facebook page when this occurs.

To become a member, players must complete a Membership Application Form and make an annual membership payment. Application forms are available in hardcopy upon request from an organiser, or they can be downloaded here.

Downloaded forms can be completed electronically, If you print out the form, you must sign it before giving to an organiser. Emailing the form to us is considered the same as signing (only email the form if you are also paying by EFT).

Payment is required together with the membership application. This can either be made in cash when handing in a completed application form, or can be made via bank transfer (bank transfer details are included on the application form).

Please refer to our Club Rules for full details.

Members will be entitled to benefits not available to non-members, as follows:

  • Reduced play costs on Mondays ($15 for members, $18 for non-members)
  • Reduced entry to SSBC events (competitions, parties, etc).
  • Participation in external badminton events sponsored by the NSWBA.
  • Public Liability Insurance under NSWBA affiliation conditions.

It is recognised that some people will occasionally come to play with SSBC to “try it out” before deciding if they want to play on a regular basis, or they may be holidaying in Sydney and want to have a couple of games. Casual players such as this will be permitted to play for up to 3 times per calendar year.
